대한민국 캠프 레드클라우드 제2보병사단, 한미연합사단은 지원 그리고 작전 및 한국군 부사단장의 이취임식을 6월 17일 캠프 레드클라우드 내 빌리지 그린 잔디밭에서 진행하였습니다.

 

본 행사는 이임하는 지휘관으로부터 신임 지휘관으로 공식적인 연합사단 휘장의 승계를 상징하는 것입니다.

 

신임 지원부사단장으로는존 R. 에반스 준장의 후임으로 데이비드 J. 프랜시스 대령이 부임했습니다. 작전부사단장으로는브라이언 메네스 준장의 후임으로 대령 조니 J.존슨 대령이 부임했으며 김태업 준장은 한미연합사단 부사단장으로 부임하였습니다.

 

김태업 준장은 2사단, 연합사단의 구성원으로 아래와 같이 말했습니다.

 

“제2보병사단/한미연합사단의 일원이 된 것은 본인의 큰 영광이라고 생각합니다. 2사단/한미연합사단의 남녀 장병들과 함께 일하게 되어 매우 영광입니다. 본인은 양국의 끊임없는 우호증진과 연합 방위 태세를 더욱 발전시키기 위하여 최선의 노력을 다할 것입니다.”

 

제2보병사단 / 한미연합사단 사단장인 시어도어 D. 마틴 소장은 행사에서 이임 지휘관들이 떠나면서, 고결하고 훌륭하며 관대한 한국인들에게 감사의 말을 전하면서 그들과 함께 일했던 지도자들에게 감사를 표했습니다.

 

“우리는 전사사단으로 부임하는 신임 지휘관을 자랑스럽게 환영합니다. 본 장교들은 그들의 전문적인 지식과 기술 및 경험을 토대로 선발되었습니다. 그리고 우리는 귀하들을 자랑스럽게 환영합니다. 또한 한미공조의 한 부분으로 오늘밤 싸운다라는 준비를 갖춰주십시오.”

 

본 식을 통해 제2보병사단 / 한미연합사단은 위협을 제거하며 한반도내 평화 유지를 다할 것이며, 위협 제거에 실패할 경우 한미공조의 지원하에 “오늘밤 싸운다”란 준비가 이뤄질 것입니다.

 

2ID/RUCD welcomes new senior leaders

CAMP RED CLOUD, Korea The 2nd Infantry Division / ROK-U.S. Combined Division or 2ID/RUCD conducted a patch ceremony June 17 at the Village Green, Camp Red Cloud to welcome the new deputy commanding generals for support, maneuver and the Republic of Korea Army.

 

The ceremony recognizes the changing of senior leaders through the symbolic transferring of the combined division patch from the outgoing senior leader to the incoming senior leader.

 

Col. David J. Francis replaced Brig. Gen. John R. Evans as the new deputy commander for support. Col. Johnnie J. Johnson, Jr. replaced Brig. Gen. Brian J. Mennes as the new deputy commander for maneuver and Brig. Gen. Kim, Tae Up is the deputy commanding general for the ROK Army.

 

Brig. Gen. Kim, Tae Up had this to say about being a member of 2ID/RUCD team.

 

 “It is my great honor to be a part of the 2nd Infantry Division / ROK-U.S. Combined Division. I am very honored to work with the men and women of 2ID/RUCD. I will put my utmost effort to promote the water tight relationship we have, and the development of the combined defense posture. ”

 

During his speech in the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Theodore D. Martin, the commander of 2ID/RUCD, thanked the leaders who worked with them as they departed and expressed to spread the word of the great noble, honorable and generous people of Korea.

 

“We are proud and indeed welcome the incoming leaders to the Warrior division. All of the officers were handpicked for their expert knowledge and their skills and experience. And we are proud to welcome you. And be prepared to fight tonight as part of the ROK-US Alliance.”

 

Through ceremonies like these, the 2ID/RUCD deters aggression and maintains peace on the Korean Peninsula; and if deterrence fails, is prepared to “Fight Tonight” in support of the ROK-U.S. Alliance.
