대한민국 캠프 험프리스 – 제2보병사단/한미연합사단 장병이 3월 21일 캠프 험프리스에서 사망하였습니다.
미네소타주 무어헤드 출신인 25세 매리사 조 글로리아 일병이 방에서 의식이 없는 채로 발견되어 응급요원들에 의해 현장에서 사망 판정을 받았습니다.
사망원인은 현재 조사중입니다.
제2보병사단/한미연합사단 제2 지원여단에서 전투공병이었던 글로리아 일병은 2019년 1월 노스 다코타주 파고에서 육군에 지원하였습니다. 미죠리주 포트 레너드 우드에서 훈련을 마치고 제2지원여단으로 배속되었고 2019년 4월 대한민국 캠프 험프리스로 오게 되었습니다.
제2지원여단 제11공병대대 대대장인 로버트 디온 중령은 “주임원사 러셀과 저는 매리사 일병의 가족과 친구 그리고 매리사를 사랑했던 모든 이들에게 진심어린 애도를 전합니다,” 며 “매리사 일병은 살쾡이 (Jungle Cat) 대대의 중요한 구성원이었습니다. 우리는 사망소식에 매우 슬퍼하고 있으며 우리의 마음과 기도를 힘든 시간을 겪고 있는 그녀의 가족에게 전달할 것입니다.”
2nd Infantry Division/ROK-US Combined Division Soldier Death
CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea – A 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division Soldier died on March 21 at Camp Humphreys.
Private First Class Marissa Jo Gloria, 25, from Moorhead, Minnesota, was found unresponsive in her barracks room and pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The cause of death is under investigation.
Gloria, a Combat Engineer assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-US Combined Division, joined the Army from Fargo, North Dakota in January 2019. Following the completion of training at Ft Leonard Wood Missouri, she was assigned to 2ID SBDE and arrived at Camp Humphreys, Korea in April 2019.
“Command Sgt. Maj. Russell and I send our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of PFC Marissa Gloria,” said Lt. Col. Robert Dion, commander, 11th Engineer Battalion, 2ID Sust. Bde., 2ID/RUCD. “Marissa was a key member of the Jungle Cats Battalion. We are all deeply saddened by the loss and will keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time”.
